Projects & Research

To celebrate the Foundation's 5th birthday and the RAMAS Risk and Care Programme's 10th birthday, the RAMAS Foundation announces its Bringing Science to Society Series.
The RAMAS Foundation is a not-for profit organization which brings together Clinical and Forensic Psychologists, Psychometricians, Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Police and Probation Officers together with voluntary and business organisations for the purpose of bringing science to society. Through Research, Education and Development projects the RAMAS Foundation is a virtual institute with satellite offices in London (UK), Vancouver (Canada) and Cork (Ireland).

First in the Science to Society Series is the "My LIFEMATTERS" Project. (SafeNowProject.org)

About My LIFEMATTERS
In response to the growing concern about the emotional, physical and sexual safety of children (teens & pre-teens) worldwide, the RAMAS Foundation launched a two year project 2004-2006 focusing on supporting teens, pre-teens, their parents, guardians and educators.

Funded by the former mental health charity "Friends of Oaktree" and the RAMAS Foundation the project aims to promote emotional intelligence, health and safety lifeskills through the use of a self-help workbook called My LIFEMATTERS. My LIFEMATTERS is an easy to use step by step, self cognitive behavioural workbook, supported by parents, caregivers and educators. The Programme is evidence-based and uses the Five Systems Model of O'Rourke (2004) which emphasises health and balance in body, mind, spirit, behaviour and environment.

The Principal Investigator/Lead Clinician on this project is Director of Mental Health Dr. Margaret O'Rourke, BA, MA, M. App. Sci., Psych.D., AFBPS; Dr. Margaret O'Rourke is the Director of Behavioural Science at University College Cork's Medical School. She is also a founder and Director of Mental Health for the RAMAS Foundation, London. By profession Dr. O'Rourke is a Consultant Forensic Clinical Psychologist, she has published and presented on a wide range of topics including Mental Health Treatments, Risk Management, Stress Management, Anger Management, Addictions, Trauma, Violence Reduction and Public Safety. She is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and member of the Psychological Society of Ireland and the American Psychological Association.

Collaborator Doug Stead is a founding member of "Entrepreneurs Against Pedophiles." He is also a Director of the USA-based Anti-Child Pornography Association. These organizations bring together like-minded individuals concerned with the increase of sexual abuse of children and the role the internet plays in the development and distribution of child pornography. Both these community interest groups exist to assist Law Enforcement in protecting our children against sexual predators. Doug has a particular interest in Bringing Science to Society for promoting child safety and health.
